Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to your most important questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our services and working with us.

01 Do you also offer digital accounting solutions?

Yes, we work with modern digital accounting solutions and enable fully digital document capture and submission. Our clients can easily submit documents via app or web upload. We use common accounting software (Sage, Cegid) and can switch to or integrate your preferred software if needed. Communication with German parent companies takes place in their preferred format (DATEV-compatible on request).

02 How does an initial consultation at ABTF work?

For an initial consultation, simply contact us by email or telephone. In a first free meeting (by phone or in person at our Paris office), we discuss your situation and advisory needs. You will then receive a transparent quote from us. We work on an hourly rate basis or, for regularly recurring services, on a monthly flat-rate basis.

03 When is a statutory audit (Commissariat aux comptes) required in France?

In France, a Commissaire aux comptes is legally required for companies above a certain size. For SAS and SARL: an audit obligation applies when two of the three thresholds are exceeded: total assets > €4 million, net turnover > €8 million, more than 50 employees. In addition, an audit can be voluntarily commissioned at the request of shareholders or for a SAS with more than one shareholder. For SA (société anonyme), the audit is always mandatory.

04 How do you support German companies entering the French market?

We accompany you from the very beginning: from choosing the optimal legal structure (SAS, SARL, branch) through company formation and registration in the trade register, to ongoing accounting, payroll and tax advisory. We coordinate local lawyers, banks and authorities as needed and ensure your German parent company is always up to date – in the language you prefer.

05 In which languages do you provide advice?

We advise in German, French and English. This applies to personal meetings, written correspondence, reports and annual accounts. Our bilingual (and sometimes trilingual) experts enable us to switch seamlessly between languages – depending on your needs.

06 Where is ABTF located and do you serve clients outside Paris?

Our office is located in the heart of Paris, in the 4th arrondissement (23, Rue du Renard, 75004 Paris), near the Centre Pompidou. We serve clients throughout France as well as clients in Germany who are active in France. Thanks to modern communication tools, in-person meetings are not always necessary – many of our clients hold their meetings by video conference.

07 What is ABTF and what sets you apart from other tax advisory firms?

ABTF is a German-French audit, accounting and tax advisory firm based in Paris. Our unique selling point is the unique combination of German and French qualifications: our experts know both legal systems from the inside and can seamlessly bridge both worlds. We advise in both German and French (and English) and understand the cultural differences in the business world of both countries.
